THE DREADED ROUTINE INSPECTION
To most tenants, the quarterly or routine inspection as we in the industry call it can be a right royal pain in the butt. We know and understand this and feel for you, you work, have kids, sports and everything else life throws at you and then we send you a letter saying, hey we are coming to visit. We realise that for many people it is not a problem, you could eat your lunch off the floor everyday. However, for working couples with children it is not that easy!
So stop stressing, please. We understand everyone has to live in their homes. Here are a few of the things we look for and hopefully you will get a good nights sleep the night before.
- Clean the oven and cooktop - we look at the wear and tear on appliances, cleaning then regularly with reduce the wear and tear.
- Clean carpets, if you have lived in a property for more that 6 months, have children and or pets, look at the carpet, does it need a clean?
- Mow the lawns and weed the garden.
- Clean your bathrooms, showers, bath and toilets.
- Leave a note if you need any repairs or maintenance attended too.
- RESTRAIN any animals on the property, if not possible, take the dog away for the time of the inspection.
- Let the Property manager do her job, don’t hover, they know what they are doing.
- Be aware, the owner of the property can attend the inspection, so don’t be surprised.
- KEEP CALM. Its only 15 minutes of your life.
- If you need to change the time of the inspection, please do not leave it until the day before, it upsets the applecart. Unless it's an emergency that can't be avoided.
We here at First National Palm Beach issue certificates and a Mc Donald’s voucher to children who make an extra effort to tidy their room, we love to see children involved in making a house a home.
