Whilst we love the look of a crisp white home here on the Gold Coast, there's something sleek, contemporary and intriguing about using dark colours in property. Now...we're not suggesting that you get the roller out and start coating the walls in matte black to create the look of an underground lair!
We mean accents of dark colours including greys, blacks, navys and deep warm olives hues. Rich, luxurious and velvety dark colours!
Whilst it doesn't work for every space, particularly those properties which lack the luxury of naturallight, but executed in the right property and in the right way, this look evokes asense of warmth and cosiness with an art deco aesthetic.
Heading to the dark side is not for the faint hearted, it requires a certain amount of creative confidence to take the plunge. So why not give it a go by taking some baby steps, a feature wall perhaps, some larger pieces of furniture, lighting or artwork?
Here's a few ideas that we stumbled upon; some easily achievable whilst others taking some more convincing. If nothing else they might just provide you with a little bit of inspiration to achieve something a little bit different in your home. *Image Source: Pinterest
